The live events industry had long suffered from endemic problems of ticket fraud, scalping, and opaque secondary market pricing that left fans paying multiples of face value to intermediaries who added no value to the experience. Event organisers had no visibility or control over secondary market activity and received no economic benefit when their tickets traded at a premium. A transparent, fraud-proof alternative to the incumbent ticketing model was long overdue.

Blocktickets built the world's first fully decentralised NFT ticketing marketplace, where every ticket is minted as a unique NFT with cryptographically verifiable authenticity and an immutable ownership history. Smart contracts govern resale conditions including royalty splits back to event organisers, price caps where organisers choose to implement them, and automated fraud detection through on-chain verification at the point of entry. The experiential layer turned tickets from commodities into collectible digital artefacts.

Blocktickets includes an NFT minting engine for event organisers to create verifiably authentic digital tickets, a decentralised marketplace for primary and secondary sales, programmable royalty mechanisms that return a percentage of every resale to the event organiser, QR-code-based on-chain verification for venue entry, and a post-event ticket retention model that allows fans to keep their NFT ticket as a collectible memento.

Event organisers using Blocktickets saw counterfeit tickets drop to zero for their events, with on-chain verification eliminating fraud at entry entirely. Secondary market royalties created a new revenue stream for organisers that previously saw none of the profit from resale activity. Fan response was strongly positive, particularly to the collectible dimension of NFT tickets that gave physical event attendance a lasting digital representation.

Blocktickets is expanding into experiential NFT packages that bundle VIP access, backstage passes, and exclusive digital content into single transferable assets. Integration with streaming platforms will allow NFT ticket holders to access event content whether attending in person or virtually, extending the platform's reach beyond the physical venue. Partnerships with major sporting bodies and music promoters are in active discussion.
